According to Taylor’s website: “Our numbering system was a little less sophisticated in the early days, and we didn’t adhere to an actual production “schedule” until 1987. To help answer that question, Taylor Guitars has published a serial number guide that helps to date their guitars all the way back to the mid-70s. After 1965, all instruments were manufactured in Eastlake and engraved with "King Musical Instruments." Special Note. All of the serial numbers listed on this page end when The H. King serial numbers are difficult to track due to the different variations of product changes and the lack of official records. 3) On the piano's soundboard (see link above for a diagram). Located on the right, this acts as a 'bridge' to the 'beams' of the cast iron plate. Serial number locations are found: 1) On the piano’s cast iron plate, near the tuning pins, as you face the keys. The following serial numbers detail all the watches that have been entered into the site. This is usually dictated by the first number (prior to 1950). In many instances the case serial number can only be used to help determine the year of manufacture.
